About the Beach Biter

The Beach Biter Water Taxi is 26-feet and carries up to 12 people, with additional room for gear. With a cruising speed of 20 knots all destinations are easily reached. The boat can be brought right up onto the beach, eliminating the need to transfer to a smaller vessel when it's time to go ashore. The drop gate allows people to walk off the boat without climbing. Our vessel is equipped to transfer kayaks and kayaking gear in addition to ATV's, pedal bikes and camping gear. Kayaker, hikers and campers welcomed! Special rates may apply to kayakers or those people with large freight.

Operating from the government dock in Sechelt, the Beach Biter is just a short trip away from Salmon Inlet, Narrows Inlet and Skookumchuck Narrows. Reservations are required for Thormanby Island and Jedediah Island for departures from Halfmoon Bay. We offer use of life jackets and a fully qualified and experienced skipper to make your trip a relaxing and comfortabel one!

Sechelt Inlet

by appointment only - reservation required

Sechelt Inlet, Salmon Inlet and Narrows Inlet are surrounded by steep forested mountains with many small creeks cascading down the hillsides. This area is a delightful place to explore and is ideal for canoeing and kayaking. Our vessel is equipped to transfer kayaks and camping gear. Visitors can enjoy fishing, boating, swimming or scuba diving.

There are 8 marine-park campsites located on both sides of Sechelt Inlet and along Narrows Inlet. Wilderness sites with basic amenities are located at Halfway, Tuwanek Point, Nine Mile Point, Kunechin Point, and Piper Point. Undeveloped sites are located at Tzoonie Narrows, Thornhill, and Skaiakos Point. Accessible by boat only, Kunechin Point is the site of the HMCS Chaudiere Artificial Reef for scuba divers. Native petroglyphs can be found in the park at Thornhill Creek and Nine Mile Point.

Jedediah Island

Summer Schedule - by appointment only - reservation required

Board the Beach Biter in beautiful Halfmoon Bay for 3-hours of boating and exploring, picnicking or hiking in one of BC's most spectacular marine parks. Located between Lasqueti and Texada Island in the Strait of Georgia, Jedidiah's isolation, remoteness and tranquility have made it a world famous destination for nature enthusiasts. The island was owned privately by Al and Mary Palmer for nearly 50 years when it was purchased in 1995 and declared a provincial marine park.

You'll spend time lounging and exploring the Island before the return trip across Georgia Strait. If you want to extend your trip we can also pick you up at a later date.
